Olimpia Milan agreed on terms for a multiyear deal with Italian guard Amedeo Della Valle, coming from Pallacanestro Reggiana and a member of the Italian national team.
THE CAREER – Born in Alba on 11 April 1993, 1.94, son of former player Carlo Della Valle, Amedeo grew up in the the Junior Casale Monferrato youth system, where he remained until 2011 when he moved to the United States to play for the Findlay Prep High School in Henderson, Nevada, close to Las Vegas. At Findlay he set the school record for most three-point field goals made in a season with 66. In 2012 he began attending Ohio State University where he remained for two more years. After the 2014 NCAA Tournament, he returned to Italy to play in Reggio Emilia. With Reggiana he played for three and a half years, winning the 2014 Eurochallenge and the 2015 Super Cup, the latter as the competition’s MVP. With Reggio Emilia he also took part in two Italian league finals, in 2015 and 2016. In the Italian league, he averaged 12.4 points per game for the 2015/16 season, 15.2 for the 2016/17 season and 14.6 in 2017/18. He played three Eurocup seasons for a total of 45 appearances with 14.2 points per game scored, while shooting 37.6% from three and 85.6% from the free-throw line.
NOTES – Amedeo Della Valle participated to the 2015 European Championship with the National Team. With the Italian National Under 20 Team in 2013 he won the European gold medal in Tallinn, Estonia, and was named MVP of the competition while averaging 13.0 points per game (with a 27-point outing against Spain, he also scored 19 points in the gold medal game against Latvia). Last year he scored 17.5 points on average in Eurocup and was included in the All-Eurocup first team. He finished second in index rating and points per game, first for fouls drawn, free throws made and attempted. He won also the free-throws crow in Italy in 2017/18 converting 90.5% of his free-throw attempts.
