In questo periodo così complesso, è fondamentale creare situazioni che stimolino il desiderio di rimetterci in gioco e, seppure a distanza, realizzare concretamente momenti importanti di divertimento e di crescita per i nostri ragazzi. E’ ciò che abbiamo cercato di organizzare per i bimbi, che in questa stagione hanno intrapreso il nuovo progetto di One Team in collaborazione fra Olimpia Milano e Laureus. I nuovi partecipanti al progetto hanno incluso quest’anno tre classi della Quinta elementare del plesso scolastico “Baroni” a Gratosoglio, area suburbana di Milano. A questi ragazzini è stata data l’opportunità di intraprendere un importante percorso alla scoperta della pallacanestro e ad essa collegata, pure momenti importanti della vita sociale

Tutte e tre le classi hanno preso parte al primo incontro di conoscenza e presentazione attraverso video – chiamate. Una delle tre classi aveva già partecipato al progetto lo scorso anno, progetto però completamente diverso, grazie ad un approccio pratico in quanto si svolgeva direttamente in palestra. Subentrata purtroppo la pandemia che ci ha costretti ad organizzarci tramite piattaforme web, il primo incontro di questa nuova edizione è avvenuto per video – chiamate, iniziando la conoscenza con i nostri nuovi “alunni” e facendo loro scoprire il mondo di Olimpia e di Laureus, appositamente per poter entrare nel vivo del progetto. Lo stupore e la felicità che si è riuscita a intravvedere negli occhi di questi bimbi, in parte coperti da mascherine spesso più grandi rispetto ai loro visini, era davvero grande.  Iniziavano a scoprire qualcosa di nuovo, qualcosa di bello, rispetto al periodo che stavano passando. I bambini hanno avuto tante domande alle quali abbiamo risposto, non solo noi come staff ma anche i due ospiti d’eccezione che avevamo interpellato del nostro team Olimpia, Gigi Datome e Kyle Hines, ovvero i due ambasciatori del progetto, che attraverso una video – intervista doppia si sono presentati, raccontandosi ai nuovi amici. I due giocatori si sono spogliati delle proprie paure, condividendo con la nuova platea dei ragazzi, suggerimenti sulle modalità di come hanno affrontato la pandemia o alcuni momenti difficili della propria vita. Tra le sfide lanciate dai nostri due testimonial quella di spingere questi nuovi amici a sognare ed avere degli obiettivi da raggiungere imparando ad usare le tre “C” ovvero: cuore cervello e coraggio, il tutto per costruire una squadra migliore. Per concludere la lezione, ognuno di noi ha cercato di passare la “palla immaginaria” al proprio compagno, per diventare tutti insieme appassionatamente una grande squadra. Ci siamo salutati affidando numerosi compiti da svolgere in vista del prossimo appuntamento ed ogni classe avrà un proprio argomento da affrontare. Ci saranno quattro incontri online per poi passare agli incontri in presenza, se la situazione pandemica lo permetterà, per sfruttare concretamente le nozioni apprese.

Even the pandemic couldn’t stop the One Team project to start

In this complex period, it is essential to create situations that stimulate the desire to get back into the game and, though at a distance, concretely realize important moments of fun and growth for our children. This is what we have tried to organize for the children, who this season have undertaken the new One Team project, a cooperation between Olimpia Milano and Laureus. The new participants in the project this year include three fifth grade classes of the “Baroni” school complex in Gratosoglio, a suburban area of ​​Milan. These kids were given the opportunity to take part on an important journey to discover basketball and related to it, also important moments in social life.

All three classes took part in the first meeting of knowledge and presentation through a videocall. One of the three classes had already participated in the project last year, but a completely different project, thanks to a practical approach as it took place directly in the gym. Unfortunately, the pandemic that forced us to organize ourselves through web platforms took over, the first meeting of this new edition took place by video – calls, starting the knowledge with our new “students” and making them discover the world of Olimpia and Laureus, specifically to get to the heart of the project.

The amazement and happiness that got out of the eyes of these children, partly covered by masks often larger than their little faces, was really great. They were starting to discover something new, something beautiful, compared to the period they were going through. The children had many questions to which we answered, not only us as staff but also the two special guests we had asked from our Olimpia team, Gigi Datome and Kyle Hines, the two ambassadors of the project, who through a video – double interview introduced themselves. The two players stripped of their fears, sharing with the new audience of the boys, tips on how they dealt with the pandemic or some difficult moments in their lives. Among the challenges launched by our two testimonials is to push these new friends to dream and have goals to achieve by learning to use the heart, brain and courage, all to build a better team. To conclude the lesson, each of us tried to pass the “imaginary ball” to his partner, to become all together passionately a great team. We said goodbye by entrusting numerous tasks to be carried out in view of the next appointment and each class will have its own topic to address. There will be four on-line meetings and then moving on to face-to-face meetings, if the pandemic situation permits, to put the notions learned into practice.
